Senior Resource Services was founded by DeeAnn Groves. Caring for her mother with Alzheimer's kindled her passion in helping the elderly and led her to become a gerontologist. Knowing some of the challenges caregivers are encountering, adult children not knowing where to turn for help, and seniors living alone needing assistance for a better quality of life, was the reason Senior Resource Services was established. We received our 501c(3) non profit status in 2007 and began two programs: "Time-Out" Caregiver Respite program and Special Friend Program. Volunteers provide assistance in these two programs and everything is free of charge to the senior. We began with one client and one caregiver and as of today, they have bonded and enjoy one another's company. In 2012 we have 370 clients and 168 volunteers. We are now over 570 clients. Our numbers in Greeley and the other communities in Weld County are increasing daily. Our most popular programs are; free transportation to appointments, grocery shopping and special events. Because of grants and the generosity of businesses and individuals we are able to have an office with an Executive Director, Administrative Assistant, Development and Outreach Coordinator, North and Central Weld Volunteer Coordinator, Client In-take Coordinator, and a Vista Volunteer. Our office hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
