Sievers Equipment Company was founded in 1971 by Walter and Ruth Sievers. Walter was a cash crop/dairy farmer and was approached by Allis Chalmers to open an equipment dealership. He decided, along with is two sons, Gary and Jim, to sell the herd and start selling tractors. The first Sievers Equipment Co. location was in Edwardsville, IL, but business grew rapidly and it wasn't long before a new facility was needed. In 1975, Walt and Ruth purchased ground near the intersection of Interstate 55 and Route 140 in Hamel, IL, and erected a brand new building to serve the ever-growing customer base of Sievers Equipment Co. This is the same property the dealership operates from today. In 1978, the Steiger line of 4wd articulated tractors was added to the product offering to compliment Allis Chalmers farm equipment. The 1980's proved to be a hard time for the agricultural industry and for many ag manufacturers. Although Sievers Equipment Co. remained strong, it's supplier, Allis Chalmers was forced to sell-out to Deutz-Fahr in 1985. It was about this same time that Sievers Equipment Co. had the opportunity to acquire the International Harvester dealer contract, just as IH was merging with J.I. Case to form an all new company: Case IH. Sievers Equipment Co. now had a new flagship line in Case IH, which continues today to be the dealership's core agricultural brand. In 1982, a new facility in Litchfield, IL, was opened and operated until 1994 when additional Case IH dealer territory was purchased and another brand new facility was erected in Hillsboro, Illinois. Sievers Equipment Co. stuck with Deutz-Allis through their acquisition by Agco Corporation until 2002 when the dealer contract was dissolved. 1996 Marked a significant point in Sievers Equipment Co. history as well when Case IH unveiled an all-new 4-tracked articulated tractor: the Quadrac. This tractor, paired with Reynolds dirt scrapers, which were also added to the product offering, gave Sievers Equipment Co. their first entry into the construction market. ...

What Skills Does a person Need at Sievers Equipment Co?

At Sievers Equipment Co, specify the abilities and skills that a person needs in order to carry out the specified job duties. Each competency has five to ten behavioral assertions that can be observed, each with a corresponding performance level (from one to five) that is required for a particular job.

  1. Customer Service: Customer service is the provision of service to customers before, during and after a purchase. The perception of success of such interactions is dependent on employees "who can adjust themselves to the personality of the guest". Customer service concerns the priority an organization assigns to customer service relative to components such as product innovation and pricing. In this sense, an organization that values good customer service may spend more money in training employees than the average organization or may proactively interview customers for feedback. From the point of view of an overall sales process engineering effort, customer service plays an important role in an organization's ability to generate income and revenue. From that perspective, customer service should be included as part of an overall approach to systematic improvement. One good customer service experience can change the entire perception a customer holds towards the organization.
  2. Pricing: Pricing is a process of fixing the value that a manufacturer will receive in the exchange of services and goods.
  3. Inventory Control: Inventory control or stock control can be broadly defined as "the activity of checking a shop’s stock." However, a more focused definition takes into account the more science-based, methodical practice of not only verifying a business' inventory but also focusing on the many related facets of inventory management (such as forecasting future demand) "within an organisation to meet the demand placed upon that business economically." Other facets of inventory control include supply chain management, production control, financial flexibility, and customer satisfaction. At the root of inventory control, however, is the inventory control problem, which involves determining when to order, how much to order, and the logistics (where) of those decisions. An extension of inventory control is the inventory control system. This may come in the form of a technological system and its programmed software used for managing various aspects of inventory problems , or it may refer to a methodology (which may include the use of technological barriers) for handling loss prevention in a business.
  4. Purchasing: Purchasing refers to a business or organization attempting to acquire goods or services to accomplish its goals. Although there are several organizations that attempt to set standards in the purchasing process, processes can vary greatly between organizations. Typically the word “purchasing” is not used interchangeably with the word “procurement”, since procurement typically includes expediting, supplier quality, and transportation and logistics (T&L) in addition to purchasing.
  5. Wholesale: Buying and selling products in large quantities at a lower price to increase profitability through a high sales volume.
