Our Tabor and Lesterville Agronomy Departments offer a full line of products and services to our customers. We offer custom applications of fertilizer and chemicals, along with Variable Rate Technology (VRT). This allows us to put fertilizer where it will give you the most return on your investment. During the summer season, we also offer tissue tests, as well as soil tests in the fall. This allows us to help our customers make management decisions to get the best return in their investment. Tabor Lumber Coop also has the use of Winfield's R7 tool. This program uses similar satellite imagery that we use for VRT. This tool lets us analyze fields based on soil type, variability, and yield potential. The R7 tool is one of the best tools for placing seed because it allows us to look at your fields, and know what corn or soybean seed will work the best on that field. Placing the right seed on the right acre will help provide your crop with a better chance to maximize its yield potential. What is Variable Rate Technology (VRT)? Variable Rate Technology (VRT) allows you to take portions of fertilizer from your lower producing areas of a field, and put that investment to an area of your field that will give you a better return. The pounds of fertilizer applied to the field remains the same, but is distributed differently to allow a more precise application where you need it most. VRT uses either grid sampling or satellite imagery to create maps of fields, showing where more fertilizer should be applied to give you a better return.
