The Top Medical Executive works closely with hospital staff, department directors, and physicians to ensure that the highest standards of quality and service are maintained. Directs the staff and programs of the organization's clinical programs. Being a Top Medical Executive evaluates developments in medical care and makes recommendations for new practices and procedures. Oversees the implementation of quality improvement efforts designed to improve clinical performance and maintain compliance with JCAHO, HIPAA, and other accreditation standards. In addition, Top Medical Executive advises CEO and medical teams on matters impacting patient care. Requires an advanced degree of medicine. Typically reports to top management. Requires to be licensed to practice (MD). The Top Medical Executive manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. Comprehensive knowledge of the overall departmental function.
