Job Description for Media Planning Director

Media Planning Director directs and oversees the team responsible for maximizing the impact of the client's advertising campaigns. Develops the strategy, plans, and tactics required to create advertising campaigns that deliver results and meet the client's objectives. Being a Media Planning Director implements short- and long-term strategies for building client relationships and increasing retention. Oversees campaign tactics and execution to monitor spending, manage budgets, and control pacing, optimization, and timelines for all types of media campaigns. Additionally, Media Planning Director guides negotiations for media buys, pricing, and media placement scheduling with vendors. Leads interactions with the most strategic accounts. Develops and maintains relationships with media partners. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to senior management. The Media Planning Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Media Planning Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
