About the Role:

As the Associate Director, Creative you will lead our Brand and Marketing Communications department.  You will be the driving force behind the visual brand identity and brand tone of the company and establish creative and design strategies to position 10x Genomics as the innovator to advance human health.  Having experience leading creative and design teams, coupled with a passion for science and technical visualization will be key to excel in this role.

What you will be doing:

  • Provide strategic creative vision and a true mastery for unraveling complex communication problems and driving creative teams to their solution
  • Establish brand standards including brand identity system, design application, voice and music guidelines, ensuring compliance across the organization.  Provide guidance and solutions on brand compliance issues. Provide brand training for new Marketing colleagues and vendors
  • Create creative and design briefs to ensure deep understanding of communication goals, with correct level of aspiration and innovation
  • Conduct brainstorming sessions with creative team, maintaining strategic and creative thinking to develop innovative and actional creative initiatives in a fiscally responsible manner
  • Direct agency for concept development and execution
  • Create agency-quality ad campaigns
  • Provide design and conceptual guidance and direction to MarCom team regarding the content, design and production of customer-facing collateral
  •  Ensure visuals, interactive and audio elements are properly aligned with the creative vision and brand standards, across all creative projects
  • Define and educate others on design process from the beginning of strategy all the way through completion and outcome measurements
  • Help as a strategic partner to internal teams and partners across a portfolio of products, platforms and experiences
  • Demonstrate and foster great collaborative attitudes
  • Consistently articulate your point of view utilizing visual storytelling and creative rationale to both a junior designer and a senior leader
  • Manage and inspire teams and help set the tone for the culture inside the department; Develop designers as thinkers, leaders, and innovators through leadership, meaningful feedback, timely criticism, and ongoing mentorship

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, journalism or communications. 
  • 10+ years’ experience in inhouse marketing services or agency role with 5+ years’ experience leading creative team with proven excellence in growing careers and teams
  • 5+ years’ experience in Healthcare, Pharma, Biotech or High-tech industry
  • This person will be a visual storyteller with deep expertise in bringing a brand and product story to life through compelling, fresh creative concepts and supporting design
  • Exceptional ability to provide strategic rationale for your work and build exceptional presentations showcasing it.  Experience navigating high level executives and strength in persuasive argument is a must
  • Deep understanding of Art Direction and Photography, envisioning how an idea will come to life in photography and video
  • An amazing online portfolio showcasing multiple types of projects and solutions with deep strategic background, digital samples a must
  • Exceptional skills in developing and maintaining strong partner/client management
  • Multimedia design, product video and animation experience
  • Excellent project and time management skills, independent, flexible and able to work in a fast-paced, team-centered environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and balance team workload to meet aggressive deadlines
  • Ability to work with colleagues at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to influence stakeholders & manage projects across business
  • Expert with Adobe Creative Suite, emphasis on InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop and other graphic design platforms as well as experience with digital platforms
  • Experience working with both project management and digital asset management systems; Workfront, Bynder, Jira preferred
