Our team works with various business units across the organization, providing assurance that they are complying with processes and procedures as well as helping those who reach out to us for certain projects. As an Intern, you will apply operational, analytical, and creative thinking to execute audits and other tasks within the Internal Audit function. Your key responsibility will be to review proposals and manage the vendor selection process for a large, multi-year audit provider.

On any given day, you could be interacting with different stakeholders across the organization, review documentation to support observations, aid in preparation for a quality assurance review of the internal audit function, and help with vendor selection of an audit provider. Responsibilities

On an average day, you will be:

Operational

  • Gain experience reviewing proposals and managing the vendor selection process for a large, multi-year external audit provider.
  • Apply innovative approaches when supporting and executing audit work by identifying, developing, documenting, or executing audit analytics during all relevant stages of an audit, including conclusions and recommendations.
  • Learn how to document assumptions, methodology, validation, and testing, based on audit work performed, to facilitate quality assurance reviews. Subsequent analysts should be able to rely on documentation to replicate and continue work.

Analytical

  • Develop and leverage business/analytical knowledge to participate in discussions with cross-functional teams to understand the business objectives and influence solution strategies.

Experiment with organizational data and propose ideas for IA/business users to leverage existing data in new, innovative ways.

Requirements

Prospective interns must be currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university, and be considered a graduate student or post-doctorate student.

AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers. This may include those who have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program.

 

Additional requirements include:

  • Ability to work independently once guidance has been provided.
  • Ability to research and apply appropriate results to assigned projects.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Ability to think critically through recognizing assumptions, evaluating arguments, and drawing conclusions.
  • Ability to document work performed to enable external re-performance.
  • Knowledge of the following IT areas: IT systems, applications, and databases.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Tableau or other data analytics tools is a plus.

Preferred majors: Finance, Management Information Systems, Economics, Auditing, Business Analytics, and Business.
