The vision of Group Operations Strategy & Analytics (OSA) is to unleash the potential of CSN (Community, State and National Affairs) by ensuring CSN has the talent, the resources and the information needed to deliver on its goals as part of AARP.
OSA is responsible for efficient operations, driving integration, providing robust group-wide communications, and championing effective planning and performance analysis to inform decision making. As a team, OSA is focused, collaborative, and solution oriented.
OSA is composed of the following three teams:
-Client Services & Group Operations
-Planning and Performance Analysis
-Strategic Service
The Performance Analysis Analyst is responsible for tracking and analyzing performance data against AARP’s social mission strategic planning goals. Relevant data includes local and state advocacy, campaigns, and programmatic initiatives. This person needs to work collegially and collaboratively with all stakeholders and manage clients’ data analysis and reporting needs.
Duties include: developing, maintaining, and enhancing data collection platforms and reporting processes; collecting data and information from multiple and complex data streams; packaging data in meaningful ways for audiences who are not data experts; and extracting key insights to steer informed decision making through analytical supports for impact delivered by CSN’s state and community advocacy and programmatic initiatives for the 50-plus population.
• Performs data collection, reporting and analysis support for AARP’s social mission work including state and local advocacy, campaigns, and programs initiatives.
• Tracks performance progress against AARP’s strategic objectives and measures for data-driven decision making.
• Ensures data sources, quality, accuracy, and methods for the CSN reporting needs and implements new and enhanced solutions.
• Assists with special analytical, test & learn, and evaluative projects to identify best practices that yield improved results, and provides analytical support to ensure results are measurable.
• Packages performance data for management reporting, insight sharing, and storytelling of impact from our social mission work.
• Advises internal clients with both the local and state viewpoints and the national lens.
• Works collaboratively with the departments responsible for programmatic and/or advocacy execution of our social mission to track trends and keep abreast of changes in political or social landscape that could influence the direction and impact of AARP advocacy efforts and programs.
• Provides training and tools to key stakeholders for performance monitoring and tracking, enabling them to understand metric related data.
• Demonstrates AARP’s organizational character (our purpose, role, values, brand expression) in all interactions.
Requirements• Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in analytics, statistics, organizational or program management, business administration, policy analysis, or other field aligned to the tracking of performance and evaluation of program-against-plan.
• 5+ years of related experience or a combination of education and experience in positions where data analysis and performance evaluation were central to the job.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to inform, educate, motivate and work with others at all levels, and attention to detail.
• Effective oral and written communications skills; creativity, adaptability and flexibility in dealing with programmatic options.
• Expert user of data management and visualization tools such as Excel and Tableau, including the ability to perform calculations, create pivot tables and graphs.
• Experience in developing data collection systems such as SharePoint is a plus.
