Summary

This position provides project management, communications and product development for the work of the Home Alone Alliance and related AARP Caregiving Enterprise work in the AARP Public Policy Institute. This work seeks to fill the gap between what family caregivers providing complex care are expected to do and how they are actually instructed and supported in the healthcare arena. In close collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders, filling this gap is accomplished through convenings, research, outreach and the development of resources. 

In addition, this position:

  • Provides relationship management for key national stakeholders of the Home Alone Alliance
  • Determines work processes and methods for accomplishing assigned tasks.  Incumbent(s) in this position may perform all or a significant combination of duties depending on assignment. 
  • Responsible for regular communication with all team members and internal/external partners, project management, analysis and preparing reports.
Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities of this position include:

  • Directly support the Director, Caregiving Projects, with content areas focused on engaging national-level stakeholders.
  • Researches and prepares materials and reports to support management decision-making.
  • Provides day-to-day project management of key Home Alone Alliance-related events and products, including the “How-To” Family Caregiving Videos and Resource Guides, and evidence-based materials for the healthcare professional audience. Supports these activities including research, communications, strategy, project/event planning and implementation.
  • Manages the flow of information on key initiatives.  Serves as an active member of the planning and implementation teams and provides input and insight, as appropriate.
  • Develops plans for strategic communications outreach as it relates to the engagement of multicultural communities.
  • Provides project management support for high profile projects, including creating and managing timelines and monitoring progress.
  • Coordinates and schedules key meetings, including agenda development, drafting minutes, noting action items and following up to ensure completion.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with functional areas, in particular those related to caregiving work and multicultural issues, throughout AARP.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of related work experience; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels and across multiple departments. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and electronic communication.
