Financial and Operational Services (FOS) manages AARP's multi-year financial planning, budgeting and forecasting; treasury and investments; tax reporting and planning; and accounting and financial reporting activities. The division provides project management and training and support for the systems used to manage AARP’s money and assets.

AARP not only works with diverse suppliers, we serve them by helping them grow their businesses and promote them in the marketplace.

The primary purpose of this role is to source and develop small and diverse suppliers for consideration in sourcing opportunities, through partnership with organizational business units, to ensure small and diverse suppliers have an equal opportunity to gain business at AARP. This role will also engage with 3rd party trade and professional organizations to establish a network of alliances to identify and develop new and existing small and diverse suppliers. In addition, the role is expected to execute and maintain established standard practice for providing small and diverse suppliers for sourcing consideration to business units.

Responsibilities
  1. Educates AARP associates and the diverse vendor community on AARP’s program, the benefits, and how they can engage.
  2. “Matchmakes” efforts to find and qualify diverse vendors for participation in sourcing process, i.e., conducting research, using third-party databases, and using AARP’s diversity network to help find and screen prospective diverse suppliers for participation in AARP’s sourcing process.
  3. Attends local and national supplier diversity events.Maintains an annual calendar of events.Identifies and secures engagement opportunities for AARP.Coordinates registration and sign-ups.Oversees travel plans and event logistics (including the shipping and set-up of booths and ordering supplies).Represents AARP on the trade show floor in AARP’s booth.
  4. Builds and maintains key business unit, major department, and supplier relationships.
  5. Maintains the Supplier Diversity Infonet page.
  6. Maintains active membership, attends meetings, represents AARP on committees, coordinates AARP sponsorships and in-kind support, and ensures an open and clear communications channel
  7. Coordinates local supplier diversity events.Manages all the logistics of AARP events’ invitations, venue, catering, seating arrangements, speakers, communications, printing, etc.).Manages and responds to the supplier diversity telephone line and e-mail inbox.
Requirements

Completion of a Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of procurement or supplier diversity experience

Must show demonstrated leadership and a customer service mindset.

Must have a solid understanding of the source-to-contract and procure-to-pay segments of procurement operations.

Must have excellent problem-solving skills

Has a proven passion for diversity and inclusion and a dedication to AARP’s social mission.

Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekends to attend events and meetings (travel up to 20% of the time).

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to keep accurate records and meet deadlines.

Ability to work independently or with others to manage multiple tasks.

Proficient use of PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
