Salary Range:
  $10.48 per hour.  This position does not include benefits.

  7:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Certificates:     Valid Driver’s License
Continuing Educ./Training:    As prescribed by District for NSLP, NSBP, HACCP, and sanitation guidelines
Clearances:      Employment is contingent upon a Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.

The job of Food Service Worker (Level I) is done for the purpose/s of preparing and distributing food items for consumption by students and school personnel and maintaining facilities in a sanitary condition and complying with mandated health requirements.

This job reports to Director of Food Services.

Essential Functions

• Assignment focus will be dishroom, sweeping, mopping and garbage duty.
• Arranges food and beverage items for the purpose of setting up serving line and making meal service available to students and staff.
• Cleans kitchen, serving area, and dishroom (e.g. utensils/dishes/pans, floors, cabinets, walls, equipment, serving counters, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining sanitary conditions and meeting health and safety requirements.
• Monitors students in the lunchroom/cafeteria for the purpose of meeting health requirements and/or providing a safe and supportive environment.
• Operates basic cleaning equipment (e.g. dishwasher, garbage disposal) for the purpose of providing sanitary food service.
• Oversees student workers for the purpose of providing guidance and direction in the performance of their functions.
• Replenishes food items on the serving lines for the purpose of maintaining adequate quantities for students and staff.
• Serves food for the purpose of meeting requests of student and school personnel.
• Performs other related duties, as assigned,  for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.   Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; preparing and maintaining accurate records; utilizing industrial grade food service equipment; and using pertinent software applications.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; read and follow instructions; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.  Specific Knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: methods of quantity cooking; and food safe handling procedures.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with others; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific Ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adapting to changing work priorities; setting priorities; communicating with diverse groups; working around children; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and working as part of a team.

Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling some climbing and balancing frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 0% sitting, 50% walking, and 50% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
