Description

FUNCTION:

Supervises the Protective Services Caseworkers to provide contracted services in Beaver County in accordance with The Protective Services for Older Adult Act, Act 28, Act 13 and any other Acts or regulations governing the protection of Older Adults and/or Adults with Disabilities. Reports to the President, The Arc of Greater Pittsburgh which includes Beaver County. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supports the achievement of individuals’ personal outcomes.
  2. Ensures work is performed in accordance with established regulations, policies, and procedures according to the Pennsylvania Department of Aging (PDA), the Beaver County Office on Aging (BCOA) and The Arc of Greater Pittsburgh/ACHIEVA.
  3. Ensures compliance with the BCOA annual contract. 
  4. Completes the Annual Protective Services Plan and Monitoring Plan.
  5. Ensures the provision of services according to the annual Protective Services Plan submitted and approved by the BCOA and Department of Aging.
  6. Supervises and assists with investigations according to the Older Adult Protective Services regulations. 
  7. Reviews, screens and assigns Reports of Need on a daily basis.
  8. Assigns cases to protective services caseworkers and performs case reviews on at least a weekly basis.
  9. Monitors weekly, monthly and annual reports from the PDA and BCOA and implements procedures to address any regulatory compliance issues. 
  10. Ensures that investigations are completed within the mandated time frames.
  11. Ensures that cases are reviewed and closed and that case records are complete, including but not limited to obtaining documents and information necessary to substantiate/unsubstantiated allegations in the Report of Need, investigation forms, comprehensive assessments, service plans, intake forms, service date forms, and transfer forms. 
  12. Compiles and records monthly statistics.
  13. Ensures that program budgets are developed and regularly monitored in collaboration with President, The Arc of Greater Pittsburgh and ACHIEVA’s Vice President for Finance.
  14. Orients and trains new protective services caseworkers.
  15. Attends and satisfactorily completes all mandated supervisory training. 
  16. Ensures that all protective service caseworkers attend the annual training requirements and provide caseworkers with additional professional development opportunities. 
  17. Maintains confidentiality of cases at all times.
  18. Remains available for emergency situations as indicated by the on-call schedule.
  19. Provides outreach and education opportunities for social service agencies, hospitals, physicians, courts, law enforcement, other professionals, families and other community members. 
  20. Participates in DOA/BCOA meetings and events.
  21. Monitors sub-contractors who provide ancillary services.
  22. Provides a cell phone for work purposes. 
  23. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications


The equivalent of a Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field and 2-3 years of supervisory experience.   Preferred experience with older adults. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must meet Act 33 and 34 requirements. Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s license and properly insured vehicle for daily use required.
