Performs duties required of an administrative professional assistant in a law enforcement office environment, also being responsible and complex secretarial and clerical duties.

Serves as the point-of-contact for citizen and other inquiries directed to the investigative division.
Demonstrates ability to exercise proper judgment, tact, and courtesy in receiving telephone calls and visitors from other agencies and the public and in making proper referrals in order to properly address complaints and citizen inquiries.

Maintains departmental personnel, attendance, statistical, and other files and records.
Maintains purchasing requests and requisitions.
Is available on call for Major Crime Squad reports.
Acts as an intermediary for the Commanders and Supervisors, maintaining liaison with public and private agencies and individuals.
Supplies information, explains involved departmental procedures, interprets regulations according to established standards, and applies rules to a variety of work situations.
Prepares a variety of routine reports and maintains database for assigned, open and cleared investigations.
Performs related work as assigned and sends letters to crime victims and property files correspondence received from investigations.
Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Skill in typing at a prescribed rate of speed over a sustained period of time. Requirements are 50 wpm typing with accuracy.
