What does an Administrative Services Clerk I do at companies like CITY OF SHEBOYGAN?

Under supervision of the Deputy Finance Director, the Administrative Services Clerk I is responsible for clerical and receptionist work including collection and receipts of monies due the City of Sheboygan, performs data entry and is responsible for keeping administrative and financial records. This skilled administrative position requires the application of good judgment in carrying out procedures and applying policy.
  1. Greets and receives visitors at the departmental window for inquiries and financial transactions.
  2. Provides excellent customer service for telephone inquiries and visitors to City Hall and to the departments.
  3. Collects and receipts in-person transactions due to the City.
  4. Assists with other departments daily collections and preparing deposits.
  5. Researches customer inquiries regarding payments.
  6. Performs administrative support through the creation of general correspondence, mailings, mail merge, preparing Special Assessment letters, the typing and submission of BoardDocs documents, including minutes, agendas, IFC’s and claims for Finance and Personnel committee and Common Council.
  7. Performs administrative duties for the Human Resources and Finance Departments by maintaining files, scheduling meetings and scheduling appointments.
  8. Manages ordering and inventory of Finance Departments office supplies.
  9. Collects and distributes Human Resources and Finance departments’ mail.
  10. Performs data entry for property tax payments.
  11. Maintains departments copy machines and printers, including calls for service needed.
  12. Assist salaried staff with organization of department policies and procedures.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or a GED Certificate recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, plus three years of office experience, preferably in handling money, reconciling receipts, and customer service.

6.Ability to make money transactions accurately.
7.Ability to exercise professionalism through good judgment, courtesy, and tact in maintaining effective working and public relationships.
8.Proficiency in computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
9.Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the positions.
