Guiding Principles

Passion Statement

At Greater Nevada, we don’t express our purpose with long-winded, and stale proclamations about our mission or vision. History has shown that such statements are often difficult for people to understand, let alone connect with, in a meaningful way.

Instead, at Greater Nevada, we choose to talk about the one thing we have a true passion for—our reason for existing, which is To Help More People Live Greater.

When we say “people,” we mean every single person we interact with or could interact with, as we represent Greater Nevada. It doesn’t matter if it’s a member, a prospective client, a business, a coworker, one of our business partners’ employees, or someone we encounter in one of the communities we serve. Our ambition to learn about their wants and needs and find ways to help enhance their lives is what drives us.

Core Values

If you think about it, there are many ways to deliver our Passion for Helping More People Live Greater. However, some of those ways wouldn’t necessarily be wise, or in some cases, ethical or even legal. Therefore, every Greater Nevadan needs to have a framework, or set of guidelines, for how we choose to achieve our Passion Statement. At Greater Nevada, these are known as our Core Values.

While these Core Values were formalized during the last 20 years, they have actually been incorporated into our culture since Greater Nevada was established in 1949. These six Core Values have become the foundational bedrock for how Greater Nevadans approach their work and achieve Greater things:

Care Genuinely

Our people-first approach begins with taking a genuine interest in those we serve or otherwise have contact with during our workday.

Move Forward Together

We can accomplish far more together than we can as individuals. Therefore, we commit to communicating and collaborating with our fellow Greater Nevadans and our members, clients, and communities to make meaningful progress.

Stay Trustworthy

In both our words and our deeds, we must conduct ourselves with integrity and in a manner that encourages trust.

Be Bright

We apply our minds and hearts to deliver well-conceived, intelligent solutions for people, add uplifting color to their lives, and find ways to illuminate their days.

Inspire One Another

We are willing to deliver on our Passion Statement in different and innovative ways, often going beyond our industry’s traditional boundaries. That creative energy invigorates our fellow Greater Nevadans to seek opportunities to enhance and challenge the way we approach various aspects of our business.

Enjoy the Experience

Greater Nevadans can do more to Help More People Live Greater when we can have a good time while doing so. Seeking opportunities to have some fun in the workplace, combined with the gratification of achieving our goals, helps foster a positive atmosphere, and increases our desire to do more.

Get to Know Greater Nevada

Greater Nevada Credit Union (GNCU) is the largest community financial institution domiciled in the Silver State, with a 70-plus-year track record of helping people and communities. In 1949, six employees of the State of Nevada wanted a financial cooperative to help them access small loans at affordable prices and save their hard-earned money. The rest, as they say, is history. Our credit union has grown in size and stature but has never moved away from those essential concepts. We currently touch the lives of more than 81,000 members (and expanding) and thousands upon thousands of people through our community and philanthropic work across numerous US states.
