Job Description

The Head of Accounting advises top management and business units of recent and future accounting regulations to identify, plan, and optimize changes impacting the organization. Develops and leads an organization's accounting strategic planning, policy development, and operations. Being a Head of Accounting operationalizes accounting and auditing systems and processes for continuous monitoring capabilities and improvements. Designs accounting systems and procedures to ensure compliance with governmental financial and tax regulations and FASB standards such as GAAP and IFRS. In addition, Head of Accounting builds expertise across accounting functions with relevant and timely staff training and development programs. Typically requires a master's degree in accounting or finance. May require Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Typically reports to top management. The Head of Accounting manages a business unit, division, or corporate function with major organizational impact. Establishes overall direction and strategic initiatives for the given major function or line of business.
