KTK, established in 1985, is a full subsidiary of state owned Curaao Ports Authority N.V. (CPA). KTK is responsible for all harbor towage, mooring launch and pilot transport operations in all Curaao deep sea ports. To assist vessels arriving or departing the various Curaao ports, KTK has four tugs on station on a 24/7 basis. Our other tugs are available to the international maritime and offshore industry for towage jobs or time charters. KTKs head office is located at Pletterijweg, Parera whilst the operational departments are close to the tugs at Jan Baarda kade Scharloo under the Juliana bridge. As a state owned company KTK is aware of its social responsibility towards the community of Curaao. The company responds by taking special interest in community projects and by engaging in projects that guarantees sustainability. KTK provides jobs for approximately 140 maritime professionals and office staff. Not only the crew on board the tugs (captains, engineers, ABs) and mooring launches (mooring boat operators) but also office staff in technical-, nautical, HR-, financial and general management positions. The 1st of October 1985 marked the beginning of Kompania di Tou Korsou (KTKtugs) as the only tugboat provider on the island of Curacao. With the departure of the Shell, the tugboats working for this private entity were no longer needed so this was a nice opportunity to start the islands own tugboat company. The government back than authorized Curacao Ports Authority to be the owner of the starting tug company. Since then is KTKtugs a state owned company supervised by Curacao Ports Authority. The company has evolved from having two tugboats to having a fleet of 9 tugboats and 5 pilot boats. The company not only did services in the harbors of Curacao, but expanded its services within the Caribbean Region by doing towage and salvage jobs.
