Each of our four branch libraries hosts a local history section where community members can come and explore local lore, or research their own genealogical history. Autumn Baggett has been researching her childrens family history as a gift to her family. Their Great-Grandmother Kathleen had often despaired that she could not remember anything about her own father, who had died when she was a young child. No photos survived, and even the details of his death had been lost to the living. Through the resources available in the local history room, Autumn found a photo of Kathleens father, along with details of his tragic murder. A five-generation genealogy tree now hangs proudly on the wall of the Baggett home. This is just one of the many stories Autumn has discovered using local history resources.
