In cash accounting – in contrast – revenues are recognized when cash is received no matter when goods or services are sold. Cash can be received in an earlier or later period than obligations are met (when goods or services are delivered) and related revenues are recognized that results in the following two types of accounts: Accrued revenue: Revenue is recognized before cash is received. Deferred revenue: Revenue is recognized after cash is received.Revenue realized during an accounting period is included in the income.

Revenue Manager manages cross-functional activities and implements a strategy focused on generating, maintaining, and increasing revenue. Implements plans to integrate and align functions across the organization, including Marketing, Sales, Product Development, Customer Success, and others, to achieve revenue targets and grow demand for the company's product and services. Being a Revenue Manager establishes analytics and methods to measure and forecast demand and market conditions, identify operational deficiencies, and develop effective and data-driven pricing strategies. Supports research to identify internal and external opportunities to expand and optimize revenue-producing activities. Additionally, Revenue Manager reinforces targets, policies, and internal processes to achieve efficiencies in revenue generation and capture. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Revenue Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.
