About the Role:
The Global Controller will plan, direct, and coordinate the financial activities and advise and offers guidance to the reset of the executive management team in all strategic matters involving the future growth of the Company. He/She will be responsible in assisting the executive team in all financial matters as well as assisting in the research of new business opportunities and services as required/requested.
The Global Controller is accountable for the financial integrity of a growth organization. He/she oversees all financial functions including accounting, budget, banking, credit, leasing, insurance, payroll, tax, and treasury. He/she designs and coordinates financial and statistical data and reports. He/she is responsible for the accurate reporting of the Company’s financial status to the executive team and banking partners, as needed.
What You’ll be Doing:
Finance & Accounting
- Ensures the financial integrity of the accounting department and systems
- Preparation of all financial reports, including income statements, cash reports, balance sheets and any other financial reporting requested by the Executive Team.
- Reconciles financials (P&L, Budgets, Balance sheets, etc)
- Oversees & Participates in Payroll operations, including the processing and accuracy of the bi-weekly payroll, ensuring garnishments are processed correctly, and that all federal, state, and unemployment taxes are remitted accurately and on-time. The VP OF FINANCE is accountable for remittance of all payroll taxes and also serves as the back-up to the processor if an absence or emergency during a payroll run.
- Presents quarterly & annual financial results to executive team during regularly scheduled executive briefings
- Oversees internal and external audit functions, ensuring implementation or corrective action relative to audit findings
- Reviews reports to analyze projections of sales and profit against actual figures, budgets expenses against final totals, and suggests methods of improving the planning and budgeting process as appropriate
- Leads, in coordination with the Executive Team, the annual budget process; is responsible for presenting, for final approval by Executive Team
- Collaborates with the Executive Team to develop cost plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate the growth objectives of the company
- Regularly does an evaluation of the accounting departmental structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities of individuals
- Provides leadership and management to ensure that the mission and core values of the company are put into practice
- Fosters a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company
Employee Benefits
- Participate in the annual review of the employee benefits program in coordination with the SVP of Operations and HR Manager. Conduct financial analysis of the impact of premium increases / coverage changes.
- Ensure 401k employee deferrals are transferred in a timely manner and are accurate.
- Calculate the 401k match annually to ensure a timely and accurate transfer.
Lease Management
- Holds responsibility for lease agreement(s) for corporate locations
- Oversees lease agreement(s) through another owned real estate business, including financial reporting required.
Leadership
- Supervises an Accounting team of 4-5 professionals
- As part of the Leadership Team, participates in the formulation and administration of the Company’s financial and government contracting policies and develops long-range goals and objectives
- Reports on financial performance, development progress, and other statuses deemed appropriate to Executive Team
- Owns relationships with CPA’s, auditors, and banking partners relating to financial and administrative matters
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s Degree preferred
- Professional designation as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), highly desirable
- Knowledge of GAAP and ASC 606 and professional services
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management positions (prior Controller or VP OF FINANCE in company with professional service revenue in excess of $50M)
- Experience in government contracting environment (we are a sub contractor)
- Minimum of 5 years experience leading direct and indirect teams to accomplish organizations goals and objectives
- Strong leadership and negotiation skills as well as excellent written and oral communication skills
- Payroll experience, including experience leading an in-house payroll operation, required as well as payroll tax remittance.
- You must have been in a position of trust. This is a privately held company and as such, you will have access to confidential information that shall not be disclosed or discussed outside the co-Founders, Executive team, and CPA firm.
- Previous work experience in a services industry is highly desirable
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Excel and Intermediate skills in Word and Outlook
- Experience utilizing Sage/Intacct
- Experience with Quickbooks
