Able2 is currently searching for a Behavioral Health Technician with the ability to handle stressful situations related to a person's verbal and non-verbal interactions. Able2 has been around since the 1950's and has a long history of compassion and dedication to the individuals in our community. The ideal candidate needs to demonstrate that they take pride in their work, are compassionate, caring, dedicated, and are looking to make a difference in the lives' of the individuals Able2 serves.

Hourly wage ranges from $15.00/hour to $16.50/hour depending on experience in this field. Responsibilities:

  • Supports people with co-occurring intellectual/developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs, including providing proactive and active de-escalation interventions during behavioral concerns while promoting independence.
  • Assists, trains and supervises individual's activities of daily living skills, including implementation of goals and behavior support plans. Documents progress and problems appropriately. 
  • Accompanies individuals into the community for activities, medical appointments, and other services in a safe manner. Helps individuals manage themselves in a positive manner when in the community.
  • Once certified to pass medications, prepares and administers medications to individuals as assigned. Assumes other medication/medical duties as assigned, e.g., first aid, medication/supply ordering, appointments, etc. Reports medication errors or medical needs properly, e.g., incident report, RN on call, etc.

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of experience supporting people with intellectual/developmental disabilities and co-occurring mental illness and/or challenging behaviors preferred.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations related to a person's verbal and non-verbal interaction. 
  • Ability to read and write English sufficient to complete documentation (electronically or otherwise), associated with position. High School Diploma preferred.
  • Must be able to perform essential physical activities associated with this job which include frequent standing, sitting, walking and climbing stairs, lifting (up to 50 pounds unassisted), bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, pulling (100 pounds of force) and twisting.
  • Ability to work varying shifts and adhere to agency Red Dot system to ensure minimum staffing requirements are met.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain First Aid training and CPR certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the OPWDD approved Behavioral Intervention Training (Strategies Crisis Intervention and Prevention-Revised) with demonstrated proficiency in Proactive and Active interventions.
  • Must possess valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to agency insurance carrier if driver duties are required by site needs.
