The City of Mounds View is a third ring suburb of diverse residents located 10 miles north of Minneapolis and St. Paul in Ramsey County located at the juncture of I-35W adn Mounds View Boulevard and surrounded by the Cities of Blaine, Arden Hills, New Brighton, Fridley, and Spring Lake Park. We are known for our large residential lots, mature trees, and excelent school district. With over 150 businesses including Medtronic, Sysco, and MultiTech to name a few, we are a medical hub supporting several labs, warehouse/distribution, and manufacturing facilities. For entertainment, we host the famous Mermaid Event and Entertainment Center, a 15 screen movie theater, Community & Event Center run by the YMCA, and several retail businesses, including Venezuelan, Vietnamese, Mexican, and North American restaurants. Mounds View was named after the mounds or small hills that were present before the mounds were removed during World War II when the area became an important small arms arsenal and thousands of loads of sand and gravel were removed. The mounds were mainly in the northwest corner of the township high enough to be seen from almost anywhere in the township. The Township of Mounds View was created on May 11, 1858, the day Minnesota became a state. In 1958 the Village of Mounds View was incorporated.
