Abilities First is seeking a Residential Program Coordinator for residential programs located in Poughkeepsie, NY. The Program Coordinator provides supervision, program planning, and administration of services supporting residential homes/programs for individuals with developmental disabilities.

  

Schedule: Monday through Friday, day shift with flexibility and ability to provide on-call support.


Responsibilities include:

  • Ongoing enhancement of services to meet changing programmatic needs
  • Develop and implement program policies, enforce departmental adherence to agency policies, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Assist in the hiring and training of personnel in assigned caseload, ensuring appropriate staffing within assigned residences
  • Ensure all required program and staff trainings are completed as scheduled and required
  • Attend meetings as needed, conducts staff meetings, staff supervisions, and disciplinary meetings when warranted
  • Provide direct supervision to Residential Program Managers
  • Assist in the development of annual budget as requested and responsible for program expenses in accordance with approved budget
  • Serves as liaison with other agency staff to coordinate person centered services
  • Collaborate with administrative teams on the screening, admission, and discharge of residents and proactively contribute to program development
  • Ensures all required documentation is appropriate, accurate and completed timely
  • Maintain positive, open communications with residents, family members, staff, and external service providers
  • Ensure residences have adequate maintenance and housekeeping systems and that physical plant needs are communicated to appropriate personnel
  • Provide on call program support

Requirements

 

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience working with adults with developmental disabilities along with previous Residential Program Manager experience required. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
  • Requires knowledge of and experience in OPWDD programs and regulations.
  • Must have a valid NYS driver's license required, deemed "acceptable" by our insurance carrier. 
  • Current SCIP, CPR, AMAP, First Aid certifications a plus; ability to achieve these certifications required. 
  • Possess verbal and written communication skills in English to ensure adequate regulatory documentation. 
  • Computer skills required including ability to utilize billing software, online training systems, and electronic timesheets. 
  • Have the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Have the ability to push and pull adults in wheelchairs, lift, bend, squat, turn in the knees, pivot, and grasp with both hands (in order to properly and safely perform the techniques taught in CPR/First Aid, behavior intervention techniques, and lifting and carrying techniques), with or without a reasonable accommodation.
